IR TV Review: THE MANDALORIAN - CHAPTER 14 ("The Tragedy")[Disney+-S2]

MandoChp14-review.jpg

The context of fate is an idea that is only made by consequence of action. At the end of last episode, Ahsoka Tano told Mando to take The Child (now Grogu) to a Jedi Temple on a certain planet. This episode entitled "The Tragedy", in terms, does build a set piece that moves quite fast. Directed by Robert Rodriguez, it shows his flare for humor and action, especially involving certain characters but it doesn't add the layer of depth that "The Jedi" had. It is a different episode of course but hard to compete. However to level the ground with Filoni is hard to compete with. Rodriguez does bring a lot of elements to bear and his is obviously a more finessed hand having last handled "Battle Angel". One can tell by certain changes in shooting style that is him but he also understands that he is working in Favreau's world. Rodriguez, of course pioneered many aspects like Lucas did so it is interesting to see, in a way, how he used The Volume. It seemingly was not as impactful as one would think but effective (yet not as thrilling as say Carl Weather's episode). Trying not to nitpick and have met and quite like Rodriguez and his approach. Just a different angle. However, as this episode shows, he can move the story quick and is great with new high concepts. To give any more away on the progression of the episode would give away the crux of it. But as with many of the episodes it revolves back to loyalty. And "The Tragedy" (like "The Jedi") is not what you might think. B
