Delicate Relaxations & Culinary Diversity: The Spas & Food Of The Riviera Maya

The prevalence of late night in Playa Del Carmen deep within Riviera Maya simply provided an element of mirror reflection in the daylight escapades of spa pampering and culinary leisure as the light warms self reflexive from the heat of the night.Leading in its vision of relaxation and comfortability, the Playacar Palace, beyond the inception of its in-room jacuzzi heaven, opened in the day onto a blue and green wonderland. The pool bar, fun and willing, serving the Miami Vices cold and quick, spills back and forth towards the beach.Close by, the ferry travels quickly back and forth to Cozumel within yards. Swimming in the fun clarity of the sea, any thoughts of trouble flow away as the bikini visions glaze in the sun waiting for the night's pleasures.Spas interplay the justification of ambiance versus integrated muscle and spiritual practicality in the caring of the body if only for the soul.At the Aventura Resort, sister to the Palace, the flair of The Spa opens up into a structure of relaxation. Despite the size of the resort, the implementation is not as intimate as one might think. With a convention center establishment created to be the envy of corporate retreat heaven with a video conference board room reminiscent of something out of “The Fifth Element”, work and pleasure can integrate hand in hand. Getaway though necessitates intentionThe Spa at The Aventura in texture is not as comprehensive in its encompassing experience but is effective in its breakdown especially within its treatment room. The therapy experience mixing interims of holistic massage implemented with pressurized back and calf techniques meant to free the muscles of slight was intense and revelatory. The masseuse responded in term with increased volatility and truly extensive and revelatory poise which made the experience a joy. After a revitalizing blast of hot tea mixed with chlorophyll, a quick dip in the auspice of the hydrotherapy pool focused the intent. The Grand Velas Spa, by comparison, inters with a sense of the inventive within its spa facility but lacks at times intention of ambience within its treatments. While the atrium over the dipping pool relishes in amenities bathed in dark greens and blue and the dipping pools wash the blankets of stress away, the coldness, despite a modern vision of architecture, seems interrupted and removed despite its beauty. The proximity of its location to the rest of the property also necessitates an imbalance of convenience. In terms of therapy, by comparison, the technique inherent with the deep tissue massage was adequate but not as encompassing as the Aventura.Specific to mention, even though golf was only experienced its severity, the Iberostar Paraiso Resort (specifically its adults-only section) is a vision of perfection with an intensity of architecture, beauty and sheer luxury that leaves one panting for more. More to come in later adventures. In the gentle evening of the Playacar at the Italian gourmet restaurant Terrazza, the chandeliers burn brightly as the plucking of a Spanish guitar sings fleetingly in the background. The inset of dinner here, blazed with the interim white satin compelling around the diner, begins with a tangy and vivid octopus carpaccio flying with spice and taste while the crispy auspice of fried misto and calamari added a tendency of zest. The interplay of a chicken saltimbocca wrapped in luscious cheese with polenta perfectly compliments the viciously stellar parmesan soup that simply dazzles while a taste of filet mignon draped in mushroom sauce melts in the south. The influx of the vivid and dangerous chocolate lasagna dessert with a Marquis de Tabernillas Pinot Noir rounded out the evening with a zest of wondrous determination.By comparison in vision at the Palace as well, and only open for dinner, Momonohana, brings to fruition a sushi experience in terms of taste that is comparable to outlays in more urban areas. The menu, while limited in intent, makes the most of its flavors creating a great experience despite a rather antiquated dining area looking through the portal of another restaurant. The journey began, after the inset of endamame and miso, with the vision of the Half Moon Roll combining salmon, flying fish and cucumber followed by a Tokyo Roll which mixed a braised shrimp along with a misago and eel sauce-infused exterior situated around a cream cheese, salmon, cucumber and avocado center that gently satisfied. On the more cooked side, the Satu Chiku Bai invigorated the skewer mentality with hot sauce while the Yakinico topped beer tenderloin strips sizzled with a tangy yakiton sauce. As a Mariachi band a room over added a touch of culture while the paradox of Charlie Chaplin's “Smile” played in simplicity in the background, the continuation of sushi satisfied with the Kyoto, a fried rice roll filled with breaded kanikama, avocado, cream cheese and cucumber so musical in its consumption that two more were ordered.Another standout was the Tamaki hand roll brimming with spicy tuna and spice that rivals some served in the US. The Cantonese Beef entree following made with angus beef tenderloin and tossed with red peppers, onions, ticana (Mexican red turnips) and a homemade cantonese saucee (specifically made by the chef), both enhanced the meal but didn't blow out the palette. In a large meal that ran the gamut, the conclusion offered as much satisfaction as the inset with a Buddha Roll coated with kamikama and filled with cream cheese, avocado and shrimp that set the vision spinning. An effective culinary experience to be sure.Lunch before the pool at The Cafe gives everything in tandem with an implementation of the comfort versus the filling. The tortillas stuffed with ham and cream cheese volley in hunger's want while a pasta salad mixing spice, ham, cheeses and spinach fill with intent as lasagna and white cabbage esconsced with cream cheese rock the afternoon.Late night with room service allows for the twilight recovery while the plasma hums, the jacuzzi purrs and the sounds of waves crashing outside echo through the open balcony. A stacked cheeseburger with surprisingly spicy pickles partnered with fries and a caesar salad replete with chicken and anchovies smooth the lift with room made for a Cuba Libre, expectant in its taste.Within the Fairmont Mayakoba sprawl, the open air brings multiple levels of intonation as pool stretches out below in a simple progression of tropical essence. With the beginnings of lunch, a Moondaca martini interplays as it mixes the pleasures of Smirnoff, lime, orange juice and blue curacao, a present of lore from the pirates that roamed this area in the 1500s. The influx of the senses jump as a creamy smooth shrimp and mushroom ravioli prepares the day. The main course of pasta mixing ham, pineapple and potato delves into paradox with a pleasant intersect which leads into a closing of kiwi fruit mousse contained in the beauty of pastry cream flour fritters.Within the sprawl of The Grand Velas Resort, the open serve of Azul predicates the panoramic windows as the guests mill about in the echo of the nearby waves. The different delicacies of fusion perpetrate though the selections of shrimp from a fricasee esconsced in lime triggered with spice to cazalones wrapped in the intensity of tarmagon sauce which heightens its release to jumbo prawns themselves stuffed with bleu cheese envisioned olives. In the descending light of the evening, the top pool bar back at the Playacar lights up in inevitability. The bartenders are experimental and fun in their confidence beginning with a Peach Fury shot, layered in beauty, mixing schnapps, coconut cream, apple juice, Habana rum and a splash of blue curocao and grenadine to tasteful effect. The US Flag, by comparison, intrepid in its focus, blends itself towards oblivion with Malibu, coconut cream, cucumber, grenadine and blue curacao to a peaceful end.The texture of food and spa within the Riviera Maya gives the optimum performance of ying and yang. The Aventura Spa heightened with an exceptional massage replete with inventive pressure while the Grand Velas' beauty reveled in its experience. In terms of food, in addition to the wonderful Los Danzantes experienced on 5th Avenue in Playa, it was Terraza within Playacar Palace that excelled with its satin draped ambiance and zesty food while Momonohana offered fantastic sushi fare to satisfy the cravings of lost worlds. The Riviera Maya offers all these things and more, only a short jaunt away.
