IR TV Review: STAR TREK - PRODIGY - EPISODE 8 (“Time Amok”) [Paramount+]

The essence of temporal disturbance revolves in an idea of what time can provide and what it can take away. Episode 8 of "Star Trek Prodigy' entitled "Time Amok" actually does not have its correlation in the episode one would think but more to something integral to the Voyager and initial Enterprise years, not so much in consequence but in problem solving. The key point with this group of kids is finding the team in the ether, working together and finding the right balance which Hologram Janeway has been moving towards (despite not knowing the whole story). All the characters have their own strengths but it is finding the unlikely hero and bringing them up to speed with an essence of perspective. This is what the episode does.

Granted there is a greater story running in the background but Star Trek works best when it stops and breathes. The way this episode begins in a case of very basic probem solving that works both on a complex or on a simple basis which is the best way to reach kids with complicated ideas of science. The essence of teamwork is of course key in this episode and builds the foundation for later in the season. "Discoveery" sometimes does this but mostly the stakes are built too great to just "be" which can cause a problem. "Prodigy" in a way is much much lighter allowing it to more easily traverse certain ideas while not having to balance the status quo of an utterly bigger universe. B
