IR TV Review: STAR TREK - PRODIGY - EPISODE 10 (“A Moral Star- Part II”) [Paramount+]
With "Time Amok" [Episode 7], "Star Trek: Prodigy" was able to really start bringing lessons to bear in its characters with a sense of consequence and unifying a would-be scattered crew. The first part of the season finale: "A Moral Star - Part I" built up a show off with the Diviner that was bound to happen but one that needed to be based in some kind of motivation which had to do with conscience. The texture of family is what propels the plot of Episode 10: "A Moral Star - Part II" because the choice is based on the nature of knowledge and motivation. Now granted the idea of negotiation should be a forgotten conclusion but it is based in the necessity of knowing most of the cards. In this episode (Episode 10), that comes down to identity. Where the episode goes is a vindication but also sets up a bigger texture which is interesting because it is something the audience knows that none of the characters do anymore...and that is that makes a possible next season interesting. The reasoning and motivation become clear but the endgame is still based in mystery. While most of this season was light, the season finale paints both a dark and hopeful resolution that also speaks to greater Star Trek lore in a way without losing its target younger audience. B+
