IR TV Review: STAR TREK - PICARD - EPISODE 6 (“Two For One”) [Paramount+-S2]

The progression of what it means to be family versus the isolation of time is an interesting theme especially as "Star Trek: Picard" enters in Episode 6 of Season 2 with "Two Of One". There is an essence of duality playing through all the characters in what they want and what they could be. This is true also for the focal point that moves with them in this time: that of Renee Picard, the ancestor of Jean Luc that Q is manipulating in a way. De Lancie is keeping a low profile which means there is something much bigger at play. Brent Spiner as a Dr. Soong is interesting and certain details point to a theory that has been discussed (which would again tie the canon in through TOS). The deep cuts are much appreciated but interestingly enough the point that sings quite well is Jerati. Alison Pill is very much coming into own here. She has always had range but this allows her to approach it on a different scale. As an actress, especially in "Star Trek: Picard", she has proven that she is not afraid to play someone with faults while still being real and with a sense of empathy. The epitome of this episode speaks to that while some of the characters get more play than others. To give any more away would spoil the elements but the notion of what it means to be a leader is definitely an ongoing motif. B
