IR TV Review: SHE HULK - ATTORNEY AT LAW - EPISODE 2 [Marvel/Disney+]

Moving forward in context after a stellar first episode usually means the other shoe has to fall but that is undeniable but "She Hulk" keeps its structure intact. The reality, like many Marvel shows, is to rebuild after a stellar first episode to keep the tension. The key though is to keep the lead character interesting. This works because again of Tatiana Maslany knowing how to navigate the tones both as Jennifer Walter and as She Hulk. Of course the performance capture has become better since the early days of The Hulk in the MCU on-screen so the subtleties are better. The difference is that of course She-Hulk is a better navigator of life in a way which allows for some interesting play. When Banner became Smart Hulk it was a little jarring but this explains it a little more.

While the speaking to screen can be considered a shortcut, Maslany pulls it off because there has to be that connection with the audience where they see inside her thought process. The aspect of her work and how it changes and the path it needs to take are an interesting dichotomy which again is just building but not full formed. Again, the humor makes it work. Walters has some great lines entering a prison which are totally relatable but also referential in a specific way. The acting doesn't feel forced and it still feels character driven even though there is plot behind it which definitely allows it to move in addition a short run time so far on the episodes which again, maybe reflect the story that needs to be told. B+
