IR TV Review: SHE HULK - ATTORNEY AT LAW - EPISODE 1 [Marvel/Disney+]

The context of a series like "She Hulk: Attorney At Law" has to do with path. What it ends up doing in many ways is be aware of what it is and see the humor. The issue with something like "Moon Knight" or especially "Ms. Marvel" is making it too complicated or not complicated enough from the get go. The key above all is selling your audience on your lead. Tatiana Maslany obviously has the chops as "Orphan Black" showed. She just gets this character and knows how to play it. Without giving anything away, the first episode has to show what is going on, time frame, what happened, etc. While the initial element has a plot ploy structure to it, it doesn't waste time and doesn't disappoint. But most importantly it gets the humor. The main reason the establishment of this character works in this episode is because of the humor and Maslany's delivery of it. You get instances that make you very aware that this is a Marvel show but depending where it goes, it has a solid foundation because of Maslany but also because of another parallel which sells it. But again, it is about perspective since Jennifer Walters [She Hulk's real name] has a very different view of her life and what this means. And that is why this works. The mid-credits sequence as simple as it is so delivers this. It is just a matter of keeping that balance without overstepping it. A
