Sirk TV Comic Review: STAR WARS - DOCTOR APHRA (2020) #6 [Marvel]
The relevance of Doctor Aphra as a character in the Star Wars Universe has a uniqueness in the modern sect in that it is not connected insomuch as to what we have seen before. She is an archeologist and yet a stealer of treasures. She has worked with Vader and yet you see a glimmer at times of conscience in her. She is an opportunist but she will make choices occasionally for the right reasons. With this new Marvel series highlighting Doctor Aphra, "Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #6" [35pgs] does sow her pushing out on her own but like certain travails from "Rebels", there is always another opportunist in the galaxy ready to make a buck. The progression here is that Aphra doesn't know everything. Her looks are also a little pared back in this telling. She seems younger and more impulsive, still growing into her ability. This might be this reviewer's shortsightedness as maybe this takes place in an earlier time. Nonetheless, it shows her immense interest especially when it comes to a new engine and the partner she must take on to make it work. The tone plays closer to "Thor: Ragnarok" when Thor is taken to the Gladiator planet which makes for an interesting volley of barbs. It is not up to full reveals so we will see if the lead up pays off to the actual ride. B
