IR TV Review: THE MANDALORIAN - EPISODE 11 ("The Heiress")[Disney+-S2]
While the last episode of "The Mandalorian" was mostly atmosphere with a bit of dark humor from The Child, Chapter 11 (Episode 3 of Season 2) entitled "The Heiress" balances back into mythology mode with a slight misdirect but also the entrance of one guest star which begins the full live action integration which was really buoyed from Filoni's "The Clone Wars". The aspect of Mandalore comes back in but also begins the connection of what The Foundling might mean. The action in this one is quite engaging and furious at times (feels more like The Original Trilogy) and heightens itself on a certain shoot forward strategy that director Bryce Dallas Howard progressed from last season. She directs this installment in "The Heiress". Like the forest arena in the first episode, what works here is a slightly more gentle touch if that make sense. You see Mando struggling for understanding as one of the people he encounters tells him both to not believe everything he has heard but also gives insight in how he was raised and the requisite consequence of what "his world" means. In giving nothing away about who is actually in the episode, there is a neat misdirect at the very beginning which works interestingly. On top of this, the episode is set on a world that looks like the North Atlantic. The ability of The Volume continues to surprise with new environments since it is hard to tell the different between virtual backdrop and practical, especially inside and outside ships. The way continues as a path becomes clearer. B+
