IR TV Review: THE BAD BATCH - EPISODE 7 (“Battle Scars”) [Disney+]

The tease at the end of Episode 6 of "The Bad Batch" is pretty squarely defined pretty early in Episode 7 entitled "Battle Scars". It is an inherent reveal that the series has been building towards but its reveal is still a little less defined as far as the power that the character wields. Granted the aspect of Omega keys into it but it is unclear the information they could have that is not some kind of common knowledge (even if the rumors are true). Battle Scars refer to the inhibitor chip which although not working per se in the Batch is the crux of this episode. The planet they visit does give a feeling of a graveyard planet or dump (in a way like the one in "The Force Awakens". But it is one specific turn that makes the episode more relatable and dynamic which is in the key protective relationship between Wrecker and Omega. He is not the brightest in the bunch and there is an inherent "Of Mice & Men" quality unfortunately that runs in the characterization. What is interesting here is the reference to "Temple Of Doom" in terms of the progress of an integral scene and how it is eventually revolves. it is good storytelling by using a mechanism that connects the emotional structure of the piece (using something that worked in a different genre many years ago). The strength of the unit is still coalescing but their reasoning and focus (as "Hunter" alludes to) later in the episode is unclear. And so the journey continues. B
