IR TV Review: STAR WARS - THE BAD BATCH - EPISODES 1 & 2 (“Spoils Of War” & “Ruins Of War”) [Lucasfilm/Disney+-S2]

The intention of "The Bad Batch" has always been found family but also the notion that nothing lasts forever, despite any perspective to the contrary. As with the end of last season, the notion blends the idea of escape with freedom. But in a land where the Empire rules there is very little context of escape, more a method of consolidation. With the first two episodes of Season 2: "The Spoils Of War" and "The Ruins Of War", the idea reflects in choice because the rogue clones have different ideas in a way of what needs to be done. The protection of their ward (without possible understanding of her future potential) clouds the idea of what she is capable of and even what they will allow her to do.

An interesting treasure perspective and the reasons for taking risks figures heavily into both episodes but also the loss of identity. The introduction of one character who interrelates with the young member of the team shows here that there is room to be a kid and that not everything is life and death...yet there needs to be time to live. The context also of the imploding structure of power and money that fuels the Empire is an interesting undercurrent that begins the season but also that in every war torn territory left by a dictatorship, there are many of those people that are left behind under the thumb that want to preserve some of their history before their identity was tarnished.
