IR TV Review: STAR WARS - AHSOKA - EPISODE 4 (“Fallen Jedi”) [Lucasfilm/Disney+]

The contrast of the master and the apprentice takes many different forms. With "Ahsoka" as it continues through Episode 4: "Fallen Jedi" is about time lost and things that could have been but also the inevitability of what is to come. What is interesting in this episode is that the parallels stay in check. There are constants in the galaxy and even if it doesn't have to do directly with a Skywalker, the context is time. This episode works gloriously because it builds to a pinpoint but it means so much more if one has seen "The Clone Wars" and then "Rebels". It reflects in the horror of heartbreak. The sins of the master become the sins and/or inevitability of the apprentice. This episode, no matter where it goes from here, makes that clear. It is a representation of Star Wars in that way.

This progression inside the episode also has the most story intent in terms of the lightsaber duels and how they lead towards (again) an inevitability. Even the characters on the periphery can sense this. How it all fits together and why certain aspects will never connect is one of the things that Star Wars needs to be. It doesn't need to explain everything but at least have that sense of cohesion (which is what Filoni overall has brought -- especially through The Clone Wars). At the end of this episode, there are so many questions on a psychological level (if you are at all a fan of the mythology) because of what has transpired, not in this episode but over time (and directly to the last few minutes of the final season of "The Clone Wars" animated series). There is a joy that left Ahsoka. We see her smile briefly with a comment from the Jedi droid before she and Sabine head into battle here (and that moment means everything -- and makes one think that Dawson is playing it this cold for a reason). But everyone has their own path. A
