IR TV Review: STAR TREK - DISCOVERY - EPISODE 6 (“Stormy Weather”) [Paramount+-S4]

The aspect of sacrifice often resounds in the nature of protection. While the 4th season of “Star Trek: Discovery” hasn't been as episodic as one would like, it does play into a certain aspect of the unknown depending on what lore one subscribes to. The subspace occurrence of the past few episodes tries to keep itself a mystery but it is interesting that the head of Starfleet security talks about the Q Continuum yet makes the point that they haven't been heard from in 600 years. That is an interesting interspacing structure to the next season of "Picard" for sure. There stands to reason that this reviewer thought the disturbance (as did many others) was a reference to The Cloud from "Star Trek: The Motion Picture". Kurtzman as a showrunner wouldn’t be far removed from using this. The aspect of problem solving continues but what is really interesting as an aside is the aspect of Zora, the main computer which is what provides the dynamic element here against Burnham who still has logic but favors her human side in many aspects now.

The aspect of former thoughts like the Kobyashi Maru also play into this but Discovery continues to ping back and forth with inconsistency between good and great (which of course is not a bad place to be). The textures that plagued Burnham's love interest in the first two seasons has some parallels in Booker in the texture of ghost of sub-consciousness. These officers are good, but as Wilson Cruz and Anthony Rapp mentioned in our interview before the premiere, is that these people aren't perfect but they push themselves to the breaking pont because they are that good.. But the boundary of what these character can do can only be pushed so much until something breaks which is wwhen the true drama occurs. But there a wistfulness as the climax of the episode shows provides a beautiful irony in the notion of fear with a reference to "Stormy Weather" [which is the actual title of the episode]. B
