IR TV Review: SHE HULK - ATTORNEY AT LAW - EPISODE 8 [Marvel/Disney+]

The idea of happiness is always draped in an idea of what can go wrong. In Episode 8 of "She Hulk: Attorney At Law", the use of the form in this balance finds its best approach yet but also pulls itself back. Interestingly enough this is achieved by an interesting guest star that upends the structure of what has been bugging Jennifer Walters all season. The aspect of rejection from last episode is but a memory but it also sets the stage for her vulnerability because as a character she so cherishes affection that she sometimes looks for it in the wrong places repeatedly hoping for a continued satisfaction. Tatiana Maslany plays Walters and She-Hulk with such earnestness at times that you can't help but root for her to have a quiet evening.

The best part of the episode is when it actually knows the right way to embrace the 4th wall and both wink at the audience, be emotionally revealing and injecting the right amount of humor into a specific setting while making fun of the form itself. The perspective of the climax is an interesting conundrum because it foreshadows and almost takes away from the awareness Walters has that made the mid tier of the episode so endearing. This of course was done on purpose because even the lead character knows the right place for the episode to end but it can't. This is both brilliant in a way but also a let down in a way likely because there is no way out of certain expectations. B
