IR TV Review: SHE HULK - ATTORNEY AT LAW - EPISODE 5 (“Mean, Green, and Straight Poured Into Those Jeans” [Marvel/Disney+]
Identity as a form of context is at the center of Episode 5 of "She Hulk: Attorney At Law" entitled "Mean, Green, and Straight Poured Into Those Jeans" which operates in a fitting way and more linear and with less superhero context than the other episodes. It tries to place the idea that Jennifer Walters is thinking practically but something else needs to be around the corner. This episode in many ways seems way too calm. Granted we don't get to see the result of what might be coming next since transformation seems to be in the cards behind certain curtains. But again identity and protecting it is the name of the game here (as a certain courtroom scene shows) and yet, unlike Peter Parker who made everyone, even those who loved him, forget who he was, Walters suffers in the reverse.
She is in plain view and yet no one sees her, even as She-Hulk. It is a figment of sadness and dread in a way that hasn't been brought fully to its true potential. Even the fourth wall breakage has slowed down. It is a bit of a mystery but one that likely has a plan. It will be just nice to see its angle. Unlike "Ms. Marvel" which spread its narrative in a way too thin, "She-Hulk" has so much. Maslany knocked it out of the park the first couple eps. Now it is about pushing her to the limits and points which we know she can go, unless that narrative here is not in the cards. B-
