IR TV Review: SECRET INVASION - EPISODE 1 [Marvel/Disney+]

The aspect of "Secret Invasion" explores contexts of regrets within a larger structure that speaks to the essence of refugees and the plight of freedom. Granted this is done in a bigger universal mileu but it reflects in the path of Nick Fury and Talos in unusual but specific ways. The first episode is more integrated to show the stakes and the reasoning. It is a different approach for sure for Samuel L. Jackson as Fury and puts him more front and center as compared to "Ms. Marvel" which was more nostalgia and the Brie Larson show at the time. Granted that idea is brought into play but it is more about the consequence of action and the mirror of loyalty.

Emilia Clarke makes her first appearance and the effect is a much different role we have seen her in but not quite as engaging as of yet. A specific storyline sparks the intro of the first episode which is not quite fully explained. But by the end, there are stakes (and a few cameos). With Ben Mendelsohn, the one key aspect that is clear is a sense of time for these two men, aliens or not. Mendelsohn has played so many bad guys that it is a nice to see that glimmer of friendship and compassion which would be nice if people would let him play more. But expectation and putting people in a certain path is the nature of the game. This is a smaller story of sorts with possible big overarching intent but the path will be the next part of the game.
