IR TV Review: ANDOR - EPISODE 4 [Lucasfilm/Disney+]
The acceleration and bigger world building that happens in Episode 4 of "Andor" shows a controlled area of the Rebellion. Now where this exists in the formation of the bigger structure remains to be seen. Stellan Skarsgaard's character is a man of many talents but he keeps many secrets...some of many different levels. While this is remincent of another darker character of lore, it reflects that he lets some people through but never usually on the same perspective. Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly) is, of course ,introduced but in a more official capacity than we saw her on Yavin in "Rogue One". The texture balances some of the political and on the ground workings that help create something like the Rebellion.
The other aspects we have seen in the time after “Revenge Of The Sith” are still occurring but this shows that, as Jyn Erso says in “Rogue One”, “trust goes both ways”. Cassian is already hardened as he enters into a mission structure but, like the Empire, there are still puppet masters at work, it just plays to a different cause. However the one thing that keys in is that there are spies everywhere but there is also a sense of altruism on both sides of the coin, albeit with different beliefs systems: one toward good, one towards bad, but both requiring violence. The aspect in Andor's world is nothing is a good thing. As with the prequels we know how it ends but it is a matter of how they get there. And with the time jumps that will happen (per creator Tony Gilroy), it is more a matter of details of what makes the man, the people around him and the difference he makes. B+
