The essense of epic is an idea not lost on Ridley Scott. In recent years, he has reapproach those opuses that have stood the test of time with varying degrees of success. With "Gladiator II", the heart and approach is in the right place. This is definitely a better outing than "Napoleon." He is anchored by great actors and they are up to the challenge.
IR Film Review: THE EQUALIZER 3 [Sony]
The basis for "The Equalizer" is in its name. The concept of quid pro quo despite an end game that is very finite. When we last saw McCall (literally in the middle of a storm), the idea was that the wolf will always be hunting. What is interesting in the forward plot of "The Equalizer 3" is the essence of human nature, including compassion, especially for a hit man in the time he finds himself.
IR Film Review: THE TRAGEDY OF MACBETH [A24/Apple TV+]
The essence of Shakespeare reflects in seeing an essence of truth beneath the structure but also finding something in brevity. With "The Tragedy Of Macbeth", the players are fantastic, the production stylized but the approach is finite simply because of its essence.
