Alive Vol. 8, Hell Girl Vol. 6 & Night Head Genesis Vol. 1 - Manga Review

The influx of manga has different angles depending on the publisher. With some new influx of Del Rey within their manga division, the ideals of supernatural and relationships play into the narrative of structure.Alive: The Final Evolution #8 This manga follows more of the progression of a X-Men perception but one where all the involvements are deadly and selfish for their own purpose. One side of a young clan kidnaps a girl in the other but it is all becomes about tracking down a mysterious orb that literally renders its possessor invincible. The question becomes the aspect of it actual;ly choosing its host when many want its blessing. The sociopathic priest bent on killing his perception of evil changes his tune to peace in its presence. A vicious girl turns very sweet while the good girl becomes psychotic. It is only the young bioy, pure of heart who can tame its aspect of relativity. There are mythic aspects at work in this manga but it jumps around so much, its clarity at times is lost.Hell Girl #6 This manga follows a young girl who has the power to curse someone to Hell through the forfeiture of her immortal soul. She seems to give it away an awful lot. In the first chapter, she is being bullied by other girls because the new hot guy in school (like Edward in "Twilight") has taken an affinity her. She debates using her power. In the next chapter, she rebels against her mother whom has given up most of everything to make sure she has a stable life. Our heroine just wants to be a model and gets drawn into a scam which quickly turns dangerous. She uses her curse to send her captor to hell where he is trapped in a carnival. The requisite story has her falling in love with an older teacher. She thinks it is true love although his two faced elements involving his girlfriend seem two sided. Like "Election" the loss is a battle of perception. Emotions play the deciding factor.Night Head Genesis #1 This manga based on an old school story follows two brothers who have powers of premonition. This new series, based on a narrative from the original narrator, has the brothers grown up trying to prevent a diaster. The man who took them away from their parents as children tries to make sure they make the right decisions. The older brother has a bit more control than the younger one, who seems to wield more power. The key in this volume is that a viral plague will overcome mankind. They have to convince a woman to abandon her research. She for some unknown reason falls in love with the older brother while her assistant, who is lusting after here, begins to unleash the virus out of jealousy. The resolution is a little too clean cut. The art is much more streamlined than the previous two titles although the story progression is much more narrative and original if not a bit predictable.
